This two-week workshop is dedicated to songwriting from each of our unique perspectives and experiences in the world. By diving deeply into our own stories we'll surface with songs that are as unique as they are personal and universal.

In a nurturing, supportive and playful small group we will:

  • Share completed songs and songs in progress and get feedback

  • Work on honing specificity, creating powerful visuals, and storytelling by showing, not telling

  • Experiment with forms: Object songs, Story songs, Conversation/stream of consciousness

  • Create a network for the opportunity for support, community, & accountability

COURSE B  | TBD! In-depth dive into all aspects your songs.

Bobby founded and directs Songsmith LA, a collaborative music space, school, and shop in Silver Lake. He is a musician of over 30 years and coaches voice, songwriting, & creativity, & keys. BA studied composition, chords, and songwriting in Austin after beginning his own coaching practice at age 16. His path was classical, broadway, then pop+rock, indie, folk, blues, and jazz.

While not spinning yarns Melaena helps others do the same, coaching both songwriting & guitar in Los Angeles. NPR: "Like an earthbound Joanna Newsom, Cadiz has a voice that grabs you within seconds." VOGUE:  "A meandering mix of country and folk that evokes the most isolated areas of the country and the people who call those places home.” @melaenacadiz
